Vinted Members Share Frustration Over Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.

Social Media Reaction

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

The platform has recommended to examine their items and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Changes

Before the change, the measurements included one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.

For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.

Required Changes

Charlotte Lunn, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
