Large-scale Moscow's Strikes Eliminate Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced increased strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the G7 - in providing defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty projectiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were working to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged energy infrastructure and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city experienced heavy assaults during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and several individuals were hurt.

The strikes come after periods of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are harder to detect.

Government officials told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to demolish the national power system, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were preparing for more assaults.
